On April 16, 2011 the chapel at the school was once again used by an alumni for his wedding. Douglas Whistance-Smith #798 and Keri were married on Saturday afternoon. Officiating at the ceremony was Susan Hunter ( wife of Ian Hunter #802 AG 1986). Keith McKay continued the tradition of a wee dram of schnapps for the groom prior to the ceremony. It was wonderful to see the chapel used for this happy service.

3rd Annual "Last" Spring Fling

Tired of winter? So are we – that’s why we are planning another Spring Fling! This will be our 3rd Annual “Last” Spring Fling. Keep May 28, 2011 open, and come out to the school to celebrate spring together! There is no “theme”, just an excuse for the Saint John’s family to get together and share our stories and great company. An official invitation will be sent out in April. Hope to see you here.

It is always a joyous time when we can share the announcement of the arrival of new little ones to our Saint John’s family.

On September 8, 2010 Paul Jaskiw (AG2000) and his wife Gail were thrilled to announced the arrival of their daughter Lily Dawn; born at 4:14am and weighing 6lb. 3oz. Uncle Mike (AG1998) is also pleased.

On December 2, 2010 Charles McKay (AG2001) and his wife Michelle woke his parents up very early in the morning to announce the arrival of their second daughter, Kaylee Leah; born at 4:57am and weighing 7lb. 4oz. She joins her sister Shayla (2 years old) into the McKay household.  Uncle Robert (AG2004) phoned from New Zealand to offer his congratulations.

We share in their joy at this very special time in their lives. Congratulations!

When one of the two boats was damaged at Wicked Point, Doc Norquay volunteered to remain behind in charge of a stranded crew on short rations as the sailing boat St. Peter came north to pick them up. Thinly-populated areas of the new province could not support their own parishes, so the mission was staffed by 17 priests sent in 1910 by the Church of England.
