- Select tight knots
- Kiln dried (6-8% MC)
- Softline profile***
This profile gives our paneling a more modern look that the traditional v-bevel. This open-profile look also will not show seasonal movement due to humidity changes.
Our paneling is available in two options:
1) Selected to have no more than 10% waste. The customer will need to do their own quality selection and end-chopping. Standard lengths are 8'-12' with some nested length of 4'-7'. An economical choice for the home handyman.
2) End-profiled: All defects are cut out and ends are profiles to match T&G on sides. Random lengths, 1'-12'. Each end-profiled will be locked in on all four sides making it possible to put the joints completely at random regardless of joint spacing. However, attention must be paid to balancing joint distribution.
This random-length system has been long accepted throughout the industry. Wood is cut from trees and trees have defects. These defects fall totally at random, not at standard 8' or 12' intervals. It is therefore environmentally and economically responsible to find additional ways of utilizing random lengths. It also allows us to supply our customer with a unique product where waste is virtually eliminated.
Adding the same profile to the ends of the pieces creates a soft pattern.
Customer feed-back has shown that the additional cost of end-profiling is more than off-set with labour savings during installation.
*** Sofline is a European style tongue and groove system that leaves a narrow portion of the tongue exposed and has rounded edges.
The natural brightness of aspen creates a modern and light atmosphere which we see as a trend in homes today. We feel that one of the most appealing properties of this wood is the fact that it does not darken significantly with time. The lovely reddish-brown mineral stains and teardrop shaped knot markings all add to its appeal. Customers have commented that they never grow tired of looking at it.
Lumber production over the past years has shown us that we get approximately as many 1 x 4's as 1 x 6's. Therefore, we generally offer aspen panelling as a mix of the two sizes (5 1/8" x 3 1/4").
Please consider using aspen paneling in your home as we are sure that you will find it a great way to warm it up your with the beauty of wood, and still keep your ceilings and walls bright.
The lumber industry has long considered aspen a "weed" not worth bothering with. We have found that with a little extra effort we can product a beautiful product from a very sustainable resource.
