Laser hair removal has truly taken the market by storm in the past number of years and so it should! Permanent hair reduction gives people freedom, period. Whether you are a male with unwanted back or chest hair or a female who experiences facial hair growth, permanent hair reduction can give you some of the confidence back that you have lost.

Maybe you are just tired of shaving and waxing on a regular basis (like the rest of us) imagine for a moment what it would be like to go on a three week vacation and not have to pack a razor!

At Vanishings, we believe in providing realistic expectations to our clients. The human body is very complex and results will certainly vary between people. At our complimentary consultations, we will evaluate your skin type, hair growth and medical history to best determine whether laser hair reduction is right for you.

Permanent hair reduction can be performed using a laser or light assisted system. At Vanishings, we have three different systems to perform hair removal.

XEO by Cutera

The XEO is the newest addition to Vanishing's range of high quality equipment. The XEO is multi-technology, which means it can provide skin tightening therapies as well as skin rejuvenation, hair removal and vascular (vein) therapies. The XEO system is equipped with 2 technologies for permanent hair reduction. The CoolGlide, long-pulsed ND:YAG laser allows us to perform hair reduction procedures on all skin types and the ProWave is a specially tailored light source (infrared) cleared for hair reduction on a wide variety of skin types.

COOLGLIDE VANTAGE by Cutera

This long pulse ND:YAG laser allows us to perform hair removal procedures on all skin types including tanned clients. In the past, only fair-skinned clients could effectively qualify for the fast and gentle aspects of laser treatments. The laser light is delivered through an actively-cooled hand piece which glides comfortably across the skin, disabling hundreds of hair follicles in less than a second, impairing their growth.

MEDILUX by Palomar

Palomar systems use specialized hand pieces which filter light from different parts of the spectrum. Each band of the spectrum has a wavelength that is ideal for different treatments, such as hair reduction and sunspot removal. The Palomar hair removal hand pieces emit pulses of light into the hair follicles. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicles and converted to heat. The heat then disables the hair growing cells.

How does CoolGlide work?

We use a sophisticated light energy source for permanent hair reduction. The light is absorbed by the pigment in your hair, which effectively disables the hair follicle. The CoolGlide can treat hair on all areas of the face and body, with the exception of contouring the eyebrows.

How many treatments will I need?

Hair develops in phases and we are only able to treat hair in its active, growth stage. For significant clearance, most patients require a course of six to eight treatments, which are spaced anywhere from four to six weeks apart.

Is it totally permanent?

Yes. The hair we successfully treat with the CoolGlide will not grow back, and patients can expect up to an 85 percent reduction in hair after four to six treatments. As we age, our hair patterns change, so this does not prevent the possibility of new hair growth over the years.

How is your treatment different from other clinics?

Our CoolGlide technology is considered the gold standard in the laser industry because of its long history of safety and effectiveness on all skin types-even on tanned skin, which is a nice benefit to our patients in the summer months. We can treat not only coarse hair, but fine hair as well. It is permanent, safe and effective.

How does it differ from electrolysis?

Electrolysis involves inserting a needle into each individual hair follicle, and delivering an electrical charge to them one at a time. Therefore, it can be costly, painful and time-consuming to do more than a small area. Our technology, on the other hand, delivers light energy to hundreds of follicles at a time, which makes it ideal for treating large as well as small areas.

How long does each treatment take?

Treatment times depend on the size of the area being treated, but on average, an upper lip or chin can take 20 to 30 minutes, lower legs or back 60 to 120 minutes.

What does it feel like?

Patients will feel a series of short snaps, similar to a light rubber band snapping, but no topical anesthesia or pain medication is necessary.

How does ProWave work?

We use a sophisticated light energy source for permanent hair reduction. The light is absorbed by the pigment in your hair, which effectively disables the hair follicle. The ProWave can treat hair on all areas of the face and body, with the exception of contouring the eyebrows.

Our ProWave technology is effective on a wide range of skin types (skin types I to V), and is also one of the fastest. Shorter treatment times provide a nice benefit to our patients, especially when they want their backs and legs treated. It is permanent, safe and effective.
