Sleep Apnea testing is only done with a physician's prescription. An
ambulatory sleep monitor is taken home after instruction and assessment is
completed by a Registered Respiratory Therapist. The sleep monitor records
pulse rate, blood oxygen levels, air flow, snoring and other information
necessary for the pulmonologist or internist to read the data.
With a physician prescription, Breatheasy will provide a two to three week
trial of CPAP therapy with close follow-up and titration as well as repeat
testing if necessary. CPAP stands for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure.
A CPAP machine creates a positive airflow that will splint open a collapsed
airway thereby correcting obstructive sleep apnea.
