Capacity Assessments

A Capacity Assessment Report (CAR) is required for all new applications or reviews of Guardianship and Trusteeship. Only those designated by the Public Guardian may assess and provide these reports to the applicants.  A CAR may also be required in challenging a previous assessment, in enacting a personal directive or enduring power of attorney, or in proving that ones' capacity to make decisions is retained if in doubt for any reason.
