Employment Training helps our clients get a head start

Employment Training offered at the DI isdesigned to provide low-income and homeless Calgarians with the essential skills needed for employment in today’s competitive workforce.

There are 3 Employment Training initiatives offered:

  • Free 3-Week Employment Training
  • Free Evening Online Certifications
  • Free Certification Only Forklift and First Aid

All students will also have access to the DI Employment Office for temporary work opportunities.

Affordable Housing | The DI :: Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre

Recognizing the growing number of homeless seniors residing at the shelter and the need to provide to its senior clients a more stable and independent living environment in an effort to lessen the effects of aging on homeless individuals, the Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre purchased Bridgeland Manor.

Client Volunteer Program | The DI :: Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre

All clients of The DI are encouraged to participate in volunteering activities that contribute to the maintenance, operations and enhancement of our facilities and programs. Client volunteers, under the supervision of the Internal Volunteer Coordinator, participate in structured projects both within The DI and in the surrounding community.

Computer Learning Centre | The DI :: Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre

The Computer Lab provides a safe and welcoming environment where individuals can connect to the information highway, improve their skills and gain additional knowledge through free computer courses. The free-to-access Computer Lab consists of multiple computer terminals for low income and homeless Calgarians. Computer Training helps our clients get a head start. The Internet has helped our clients find jobs.

Computers for Low Income Calgarians

Because of our partnership with Microsoft, the CLIC program is able to provide Microsoft Authorised Refurbisher Windows operating system licenses on all computers. With the CLIC programs exponential success and the increased demand for computers from individuals and families, more computers are in high demand.

The DI :: Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre

New and used clothing donated by the community at large is provided, free of charge, to anyone who visits the Clothing Centre, located in the Old DI on Fourth Avenue SE. Clients who cannot access The Clothing Centre during daytime hours due to work or school commitments are served through a mobile night service on the residential floors.
