Responsive Respite Services

Responsive respite offers a chance for children with complex development disabilities and their families to take a break from each other. We provide two types of respite service: In-home and facility based (Kidz Hotel). Both services are designed to serve the needs of children/adolescents with a disability who experience emotional, behavioral or psychiatric difficulties.

Respite provides children with the opportunity to meet other children, develop relationships and friendships, and have a ton of fun either at the Kidz hotel of in the community. The Kidz Hotel offers games, activities, theme weeks, community interaction, daytime support, overnight sleepover parties, and celebrations.

Another main area of focus is on community activities including educational classes, volunteer work, leisure and social activities, and possibly paid employment. These services include daily living skills in a home setting, which are met by developing individualized support plans to meet the youth’s specific needs. Transitional Support Services also addresses behaviour management and explores appropriate adult services with their guardians.
