Single Sliders are the least expensive window but one of the most efficient.
With one side of the window fixed and the other side sliding, there is little chance for air to infiltrate. The Sliding portion, called the sash, slides horizontally on rollers for smooth operation and sits in a gusset that is completely weather stripped top and bottom. Where the two windows meet in the centre is called an interlock. The interlock has a vertical groove, complete with more weather stripping on each side, that when closed provides a tight seal.
To clean, simply tilt or lift out the sliding side, remove the screen and reach out and clean the fixed side.
Single sliders come with a half screen that is easily removable. Single sliders can be either full sliders, combinations or end vent style where the window is split into 3 sections and the two ends slide towards the centre. Most end vents are split equally in thirds or quarter, half, quarter.
