The benefits of meditation have been touted for thousands of years. An ancient practice, it offers a way to move past the mind’s busyness and emotional turbulence into a space of profound peace. Such restful awareness may be more valuable than ever in today’s high-octane society, where people experience more stress and stimulation than ever before.

Meditation offers access to the inner silence and well-being that already exist under the surface. The health and psychological benefits are numerous. Scientific research has shown that during meditation, breathing slows, blood pressure decreases, and stress hormone levels fall. In fact, half an hour of meditation provides more psychological rest than a full night's sleep. The benefits of a regular meditation practice include lowered blood pressure, a strengthened immune system, increased energy and creativity, an increased sense of wellbeing, and release of stress and fatigue.

Discovery Ridge Wellness Centre offers the following group meditation classes. Advance registration and payment is required. A minimum of five* participants is needed for the classes to commence.

Tuesdays (5 weeks):
January 10 – February 7, 6:30-7:30 pm
Cost: $75/5 weekly classes

Get out of your head and into your body with a series of guided meditations designed to de-stress and relax you, and let you leave the workday behind.

Preparation

To make the class comfortable:

  • Wear loose-fitting clothing
  • Bring a blanket, yoga mat or pillow to sit on
  • Arrive at least five minutes early; the classroom door will be closed promptly at the start of class.

Cancellation Policy

A 24-hour notice is required for cancellation. If notice is not provided at least 24-hours before the beginning of class, 100% of the registration fee will be retained.

*Registrants will be contacted if the minimum number of participants is not filled. Registrants will have the option to roll their payment over to a future class, or to receive a full refund.
