Daily living can take its toll. Toxins from the air, food and water can build up in our bodies, sap our energy and vitality, and contribute to illness and disease.

Many natural health practitioners therefore recommend a regular cleanse: A change in diet and other habits that are touted to flush your body  of accumulated toxins and waste products, recalibrate your body’s overtaxed systems, and support your body’s self-healing mechanisms.

What to Expect

Keep in mind that detox programs are intended neither to replace any medical protocol nor to cure disease. Rather, they are designed to clear obstacles to health, allow body systems to run more efficiently, and to compliment medical care.

Our detox counsultation includes:

  • an analysis of your eyes,  tongue and fingernails (this can reveal which areas of your body may need attention),
  • a questionnaire to assess your general health and areas of concern, and
  • recommendations for the detox method(s) that would work best for you.

Detox diets can be tailored to your individual needs. Typically, these diets:

  • eliminate foods that contain empty calories (such as highly-refined sugars) or potentially harmful substances (such as alcohol, trans fats or caffeine),
  • include foods, herbs or supplements that support the body’s natural ability to rid itself of toxins (such as dark green, leafy vegetables),
  • reduce overall food intake, and
  • help the body achieve an alkaline (rather than acidic) state.

Detox diets may include juice fasting, smoothie or replacement meals, or raw food that hasn’t been heated above 115 degrees. Our practitioner may also recommend a two-week or one-month pre-packaged cleanse, which contains herbs and other ingredients to support the body’s detoxification process.

Other detox tools include:

  • colon hydrotherapy (flushing the colon to eliminate accumulated waste)
  • rebounding (bouncing on a small trampoline)
  • infra red sauna
  • dry brushing the skin
  • massage, yoga and meditation
