Lead

Cascade Lead Came is made from a very closely controlled alloy that combines a fine grain structure with high strength. We start with 100% pure lead to which we add exacting quantities of Tin, Antimony, Copper, and Bismuth. The came is still over 99% pure lead but you can now stretch the lead to the breaking point and still maintain a fine grain structure. This alloy also prevents oxidation, which makes for easier soldering and allows for a long shelf life without tarnishing.

For those who prefer a harder lead came to work with, we offer a few alternatives:

  • #2 Alloy - This is a nice medium strength lead. It is also our fastest selling lead.
  • 4% and 6% Antimony - This is our hard came for those people who like to workout while working on their projects.

Accessories

Gold Marker Pens

Felt nibbed pens filled with permanent gold paint can be used for covering solder joints. These pens will cover the solder and match up nicely with the color of our brass cames.

Came Bender

The hand tool which will bend brass, copper, and zinc into circles or ovals. The came bender will bend the border channels, flat H's, and round H's in the three separate groves of the tool. You can make circles three inches wide and larger. It will not bend the single sided U channel.

Lil Notcher

The hand tool that cuts a perfect notch out of both sides of a single sided U channel with a simple push on the handle. There are two notches available. One cuts a perfect 90° notch while the other notcher cuts a perfect 45° notch. They are not interchangeable. The notcher is not designed to notch border or H's channels.

Re-Strip

Re-strip is a strip - like a ribbon 5/32" wide - made from copper or brass. It is used to reinforce stained glass projects made with lead or copper foil. Re-strip is sold in two sizes, a 25-foot roll or a 100-foot roll.

Solder

Solder is available in two sizes and is comprised of two alloys. At Cascade Metals we create spools that come in one or five pound rolls. Our solder is made with a mixture of tin and lead and is available in a 50/50 mix or 60/40 mixture.

Lead Knives

Used for cutting lead cames. These knives are made of stainless steel and can be sharpened. They also have a lead end that can be used to hammer your lead nails.
