ATCO to Provide Site Services at Sunrise Energy Project

ATCO Structures & Logistics (ATCO) has been awarded a significant contract to provide common site services  at the Husky-operated Sunrise Energy Project located 60 km northeast of Fort McMurray. ATCO will be providing fire protection, medical services, security, ground transportation and gravel pit management at the site. ATCO will also be providing modular offices and other structures to support the delivery of services.
“ATCO has built an international reputation in delivering site services for NATO, the Government of Canada and the United Nations,” said Harry Wilmot, President & Chief Operating Officer, ATCO Structures & Logistics. “We look forward to providing these services to the Husky-BP project, our first site services contract in the energy sector.”
The awarding of this contract will also play a significant role in the development of local Aboriginal business opportunities in the Wood Buffalo region. Through Aboriginal joint ventures and partnerships across Canada, ATCO has delivered project excellence while maximizing opportunities for local employment and economic participation.
The Sunrise project is a joint venture between Husky Energy and BP PLC that has regulatory approval to produce 200,000 barrels-per-day (bpd). The partners are proceeding with Phase 1 of the project, which is designed to produce 60,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) by 2014 using steam assisted gravity drainage technology.
