Community Service

The Cadet program encourages youth to develop an understanding of civic responsibility and the role they can play in supporting and strengthening their communities.

To this end, the Squadron endeavours to provide opportunities to Cadets to help out local charities in Milton.  If your charity requires help for an event, the Squadron can bring a highly motivated group of young people to your assistance.

For students who must complete a minimum of 40 hours of community involvement activities prior to graduation, Cadets provides an opportunity to fulfill these requirements.

Since September, 2011, the 820 Squadron has given back to the community in the following ways:

  • Salvation Army food collection – Air Cadets of 820 Squadron are collecting canned and non-perishable goods those in need, to be donated to the Salvation Army.

  • Remembrance Parade at Haltonville Cenotaph – On October 30, 2011, Air  Cadets gathered at the Haltonville Cenotaph for a Remembrance Parade.

  • Poppy sales – on October 30, 2011 and November 6, 2011, Cadets were stationed all over Milton to sell poppies to support the veterans of Canada.

  • Remembrance Day Parade – November 6, 2011, Cadets participated in the Milton Remembrance Day Parade.  Along with scouts, the Milton Firefighters, the Milton Police, Knights of Columbus, Sea and Army Cadets, members of the Armed Forces, political officials and veterans, the Air Cadets marched from the Legion to Victoria Park where they stood at attention to remember the fallen soldiers who fought in battles in service to their country.

  • Remembrance Day Ceremony, Evergreen Cemetery -- On November 11, 2011, cadets gathered at Evergreen Cemetery for a memorial service commemorating Remembrance Day, observing a moment of silence for the 110,000 Canadians who, volunteers every one, fought and died on the battlefield.

  • Heritage Parade of Lights – November 12 and 13 – Cadets served Miltonians as traffic directors at Country Heritage Park for the Parade of Lights, a spectacular parade of vintage tractors and farm machinery decorated with coloured festive lights.
