UrbanEx is passionate about empowering people to overcome
their fears/prejudices/inaction to authentically engage with others in their
communities whom they may not know, like, understand, or whom they are even
just afraid of. Encouraging them to notice/advocate for those who are dealing
with depression, racism, sexism, addictions, abuse, bullying, crisis, etc
regardless of differences of race, lifestyle, religion, or socioeconomic class.
The Excursions are intense week-long experiences where
participants are creatively inspired by the strengths/talents of people who
have experienced: homelessness/borderline homelessness, abuse, sex trade,
addictions, physical/mental challenges, being refugees, racial/sexual
discrimination. Through these coordinated hands-on experiences and guided
processing sessions, individuals ages 11-70 who come from all walks of life
learn to embrace adversity, examine their character, and face many of their
fears/prejudices/in-actions.
