Join 1000 Islands Kayaking
on a ‘Canadian Heritage Adventure Paddle’ and immerse yourself in some of Canada’s
most awe-inspiring regions of historical and ecological importance. Transported by paddle and kayak, this six day,
five night personal journey will lead you through the Frontenac Arch UNESCO
World Biosphere Reserve, Rideau Canal National Historic Site of Canada and
UNESCO World Heritage Site, and ending with several days in the world famous 1000
Islands!
We begin the journey by launching
our boats into the early morning mists of the Rideau Canal, for a review of
kayaking techniques and useful skills. From
here, we’ll spend three days exploring the rich wetlands, backcountry lakes and
hidden creeks of the historic Rideau Canal and Gananoque River Watershed. You’ll enjoy some of the area’s finest B &
B’s before launching into the next, more adventurous section along our journey -
sea kayaking amongst the 1000 Islands. We’ll
spend three days wandering through and periodically losing each other amongst the
countless islands, marshes and channels of the St. Lawrence River. A unique camping experience awaits in the St.
Lawrence Islands National Park for these next two nights. This will lend incredible day trip access to
some of the most remote, scenic, and romantic stretches of the 1000 Islands and
National Park, allowing you to observe unique and rare plants and animals and
revel in the culture and history of this distinctive region.
Spectacular paddling,
photography, and history converge here in the Rideau Canal and 1000 Islands. Paddling
through these sites offers a unique way to learn about early Canadian
settlement and the region’s vibrant biodiversity. A ‘Canadian Heritage Adventure Paddle’ is a
beautiful, beginner friendly way to experience the Rideau Canal World Heritage
Site, the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve and the World Famous 1000 Islands. Your
adventure is waiting!
